Hey beacon, welcome home to your bounce back blueprint community Podcast, where you are challenged to be do and have God’s best. As you thrive on your journey from setback to success. I’m your bounce back guide, Tiffany Huff-Strothers. And I’ll be guiding you on the journey by sharing tips, tools, and the T on how I was able to bounce back from escaping death, healing from heartbreak and finding hope in homelessness. And then I wrote an award winning book all about it, and shout out to God, ever since I was courageous enough to share my story. My life and the lives of women around the world have been forever changed. And as a member of the bounce back blueprint community, I’m called to teach you to do the same. So grab your journal, and let’s build this blueprint. Hey, begin, hey, I am so excited to build the blueprint with you this week. Before we do though, I want to offer you the opportunity to make 2021 your best year yet, and that is by investing in being your best. Today we’re talking all about redefining success, and the power and the importance of being famous at home first. And that is where I specialize really helping you to build a solid foundation so that you can cease to be a public success and a private failure. And in fact, if you wonder why you haven’t been able to achieve public success, it’s likely because you aren’t famous at home, first, you’re overwhelmed, you’re burnt out, you’re stressed out, you’re doing all of the things and none of the things is working. Let me be the one to help you to course correct. And get the clarity and gain the courage to really be and do and have all the God has called you to, you can grab the link in the show notes and grab a breakthrough session with me so that we can speak about how we can work together to make 2021 your best year ever. Now grab your journal, and let’s build this blueprint all about being famous at home.

First, you have to be famous at home first. And that means regardless of how many people you bless outside of your home, regardless of how much money is in your bank account, if you are a public success and a personal or at home failure, then it’s all for not right. And so I want you to consider even now with how busy we can be as women, right we wear tons of hats, beyond wives, mothers, sister, friend, daughter, significant other if you’re not married, if you don’t have children, you are active in your community, you’re volunteering, you are on professional boards, and the list goes on and on for all of us, right. And so it’s very easy to get caught up in what you have to do once you get out the door. Because for some of us even getting out the door is such an accomplishment, right? It can be easy to focus on your success, once you leave your home and lose sight sometimes or your home actually drops to the bottom of your priority list. And I know that nobody is going to quickly volunteer this as their truth because it’s not popular. However, I do want you to be honest with yourself and be honest with God as we move through this topic today. And so what I have learned, and what I have had to learn the hard way is that it’s so much more important to be famous at home first. And when you are not that it will be easy, but it will be easier to build, bless and bank once you leave out of the house. And this was very challenging for me because I was bred to be an achievement junkie, right? All of my life, I aspire to the next thing and the next thing and the next thing, and there was really nothing that I could not accomplish. As long as I worked hard, until I got into this relationship and I couldn’t make it work, I was able to make everything else work. Nothing else that I wanted or needed, or attempted to achieve was impossible except this. And because of that, I ended up experiencing one of the worst. Well, one of the most life changing setbacks of my life, I will say, and so I want to share with you Like I said, I’m open that I’ve taken enough for the team so that you don’t have to have the same experience. So what does it mean to be famous at home first, if you have your workbook you probably have a little bit of insight into this, but I’m gonna break it down for you anyway. being famous at home first, has some levels and I’m sure you’re used to me saying so many of these concepts. There are levels to it and that’s because it This is a journey right? Even after you’ve completed the challenge, there will be some pieces of this process and your workbook and these videos that you’ll go back to, that you’ll revisit that you’ll have to reflect on and work through and grow through consistently, right, it’s not a one and done. So when it comes to being famous at home, first, there are three levels. And all of these levels are necessary before you even leave out the door before you pick up your phone before you post anything on social media, this is all at home, this is all very important. But I want you to shift your perspective about home, because you probably immediately went to being famous at home as famous as a mom famous as a wife. But even before we get there, there are some levels that you need to consider. So the first famous at home, or excuse me, the first level of being famous at home is being famous with God, good morning. That means that you are prioritizing your relationship with God, and you are prioritizing yourself as the woman that God tells you you are now for a lot of us this is challenging, right. But I want you to think about this from the perspective of when you are getting into a new relationship, right?

Think about if you’re in a relationship, how you got to know your significant other, right, this is time that you have to invest into getting to know that person, right? sharing and learning truth about this person is just getting comfortable. And it takes time. And it’s an investment. And when we are in pursuit or in process of a new relationship with a significant other, this is an exciting time, right? This is a time that you are smiling a lot, right? You’re probably feeling a little giddy, maybe even blessing. And it’s usually a time when we are excited and sharing with others about the experience. And that’s what being famous at home with God is all about. It’s about really being excited and invested in living a life where God is going to get the glory. And that excites you to the extent that you want to share it with other people. And so, like we talked about yesterday, if you don’t have a solid foundation with your source, then it’s going to be very challenging for you to do what you’re called to do, or what you were created to do as it relates to that source. So first and foremost, you want to be a famous home with God, that is on the basic level, right. And that is something again, that is not something that you achieve in one day, it doesn’t happen overnight. It’s not something you check off a list, it’s something you prioritize on a consistent basis. And that will grow. And as that grows, the foundation that you’re building on becomes stronger and stronger. So even though it’s not something that happens overnight, or a one and done, it is definitely something that you need to consistently invested. I know that even today, the houses that are popping up or being built very quickly, right, especially now because we’re inside, you could be in the house for a week and the next week, potentially see a house a structure, right. But even before that house went up, there was some digging that had to be done, there was some semen or dirt that had to be laid on bricks that had to be set before that house was built. So even though it appears to have happened very quickly or overnight, there were things that we could not see happening, that needed to happen for that to take place. So it’s very important to prioritize your relationship and your time with God. And as we move through the rest of this week, we’ll talk about exactly how to do that. The second level of being famous at home first is being famous in your body. Right? So

you know, are most people are familiar with some variation of the Scripture, your body has a space where the Holy Spirit dwells right. Beyond that our body is not our own, it’s on loan to us, right? This is something our body is something just like our money and our gifts and talents that we have been entrusted to steward well, right. And so if you aren’t being famous at home, if you aren’t caring for your body properly, then it’s going to be very challenging for you to do the work that you were called to do, right? being famous at home and your body is what makes you feel good enough to to be able to do the things and so I always challenge my clients to consider what are you putting into your body and where are you going with your body that the Holy Spirit may not want to dwell with or in a space that the Holy Spirit might not want to be in? Right? Because your body is the temple for some people.

You might be the only Bible that they ever open right? Your story what you are called to bless people with might be the soul experience that they have with God and so It’s very important for us to prioritize how we treat our bodies. And again, because we are women. And because we have so many other things going on, unfortunately, we tend to put ourselves on the bottom of the priority list. And so this is why we are focusing here now, because what we don’t want to happen is you start to experience some success with sharing your story, you start to experience some success with blessing others, and then you lose sight of the importance of caring for yourself, we are prioritizing ourselves first, that’s what being famous at home in your body means that means that you are sleeping your way to the top. That means we are not in hustle and grind mode, we are resting because even the Creator of the heavens and the earth rested on the seventh day. So that means part of being famous at home first is allowing yourself to space and the grace to sleep your way to the top, making your rest a priority, right? It means that you are nourishing your body properly. And it’s not only what you eat, it’s not only what you consume with your eyes, right? It’s what you can, or excuse me, it’s not only what you consume with your mouth, it’s what you consume with your eyes, right? What you’re watching what you’re scrolling through on social media who you’re following. It’s also what you are hearing with your ears, right. And like I said, it’s also the places that you go. And the company you keep the people you entertain, as the old folks will say that it’s the company you keep, right. So these are things you want to be mindful of as you build your foundation to be famous at home first. And like I said, this is about being honest with yourself. And your journal, your workbook is your judgment free zone. So what you were writing there, what you’re jotting down as you listen to what I’m sharing is your personal truth, your space to commune and be honest with both yourself and with God. Does that make sense? Everybody with me famous at home with God is level one, famous at home and your body is level two. And you will know when you’ve gotten to the point that you’re famous on those first two levels when you are excited when you wake up in the morning because you know one that you get to have more time with God, but two, you are about to invest the day, the time of your day and doing the things that you are called to do, and you feel good about it. Right? When you wake up heavy and sluggish and tire you don’t feel good about doing the work that God has called you to do, you don’t feel excited. And so it ends up, we end up in a space where we have to wear masks and put on a facade.

So this is something we definitely want to be intentional about, we definitely want to take seriously and we want to prioritize. Now the third level of being famous at home first is the fame that is necessary actually, in your home with your family with your significant other. And even if you live alone, if you’re not married, if you don’t have children, if you don’t have a significant other, this is about being famous at home in the space that you inhabit. And so it’s not only your familial relationships, but it’s also caring and stewarding your space well, right. And again, these are things that often fall to the wayside because of so many of the other priorities that we have outside the home. And I can be completely honest, there was a time when I don’t think I shared this yesterday, from the moment I woke up in the morning to the time I lay down at night, my entire day was accounted for that that was when I was a single mom. And that didn’t mean that I didn’t spend time with my children. But it did impact the way I was able to spend time with my children, because there was so much rushing. And it became very clear to me when I noticed that it was um it was the way of life that my children were adapting to right so I was always hustling always. Let’s go Hurry up, get yourself. Let’s do it. And what I noticed was my older son started doing it to my younger son because he was following what I was doing to him. So he would constantly be like, Come on, get your bag, get your book, but come on, we gotta go Hurry up, get up. And I would be thinking why is he rushing him that way. But it’s because it’s the way that I was modeling the behavior to him. And so it’s really important to take an inventory on the areas of your home life where you aren’t famous. And here’s the way that I encourage you to do it. Draw a picture of a house on a piece of paper and your journal or your workbook, and then divided into rooms, right? And I want you to think about the physical rooms in your house like your basement, your kitchen, your family room, your bedroom, but also I want you to consider The other rooms that make up the home that you embody, right the home that you inhabit. And so that would be like, your physical, your emotional, your spiritual, your mental, your professional, and think about and rate yourself on how famous you are in each of those houses, right? Or each of those rooms, right on a scale of one to 10? how famous Are you in your relationship with your children? how famous Are you with keeping your home clean, and let me be clear and say this, this doesn’t mean you have to do all of the things right? You could have someone that you hire to clean your home, right? That’s part of being a good steward. We don’t have to do all of it ourselves. But we are responsible, we do have dominion over those things that God has given us to steward. And so how you actually do it is not as important as you making sure that it gets done. So it might be that you need to ask for some help. That’s part of being famous at home first, recognizing that you don’t have to do it all on your own, it also may mean that you need to establish some boundaries, right. And that means boundaries with the people you live with. As well as people you work with your friends, family members, right, you have to set some boundaries and create the space so that you can build up the habits, build up the clarity, build up the courage and make the commitment to doing the work of being famous at home first. And I’m a firm believer that we do not grow alone. And I know that part of what what I’m called to do is to help you really build this solid foundation.

This is Cornerstone number one of building your bounce back blueprint. You’ve got to be famous at home first, before you can even consider successfully being and doing and having all that God has called you to do because your foundation is so important to everything else that you are called to build everyone else you are called to bless. And so I would love to have the opportunity to be your guide on this journey. If you are struggling with even how to begin to be famous at home first how to build those habits, how to connect with God, how to prioritize yourself, if you’re struggling with setting boundaries, if you don’t know which goals are God goals and which are good goals. I am here for you. I would love to work with you. All you need to do is grab the link in the show notes and schedule your breakthrough session. Hey, begin, hey, I hope you are having an amazing self care Saturday. In fact, I pray that you are embracing self care every day. And on that note, before we build the blueprint, I want to remind you that if 2020 knocked you down so hard, you aren’t sure that you can get back up. If this new year when it kicked off hasn’t seemed so happy for you. If you look in the mirror, and you wonder who in the heck is the woman looking back at me, you have so much to do so much to change so much to overcome, and you just don’t know where to start, I would love for you to start by clicking the link in the show notes and scheduling a breakthrough session with me. Because I have been there I’m talking homelessness, domestic violence, bankruptcy, overweight, to the point that the doctor is telling me that I can apply for gastric bypass surgery, I’ve seen all of the setbacks. And through the grace of God, I have been able to bounce back and in many cases better than before. And I want to help you do the same. So grab the link in my show notes. And let’s set up a time to chat and see how we can work together to make this year your best year yet. So today, I really want to talk to you about what that might look like for you. And specifically I want to talk about being in a season of preparation. And I know that it’s not always what we want to hear right when God gives us a word, you know, word of the year, and he tells you he’s going to elevate you or he is giving you a glimpse of the promise that he has for you or he has told you that he has called you to higher whatever the case may be for you. A lot of times, we think that we are going to go from where we are to elevation and that there won’t be any preparation. And I’ve learned many, many times over that that is absolutely not the case. And so in this season, I have begun to embrace the preparation, I am seeing the acceleration that comes when I do embrace it. And I am saying God and trusting me with a bit more.

I am seeing him revealing a bit more. And I have to admit he is requiring much more from me. And so I want to re-iterate that if God has you in a season of preparation, because he wants you to be ready for the elevation, know that he is going to be requiring much more from you. And it’s because their preparation, proceeding elevation is very, very serious, right? God is not going to play you I tell you all of the time, God is not going to play you. But if you’re so focused on the elevation that you try and skip, or you take for granted the preparation, you are certainly playing yourself. And yes, I am sharing this truth from experience. I have taken many many for the team. And the other night. As I lay in bed praying, there were three things God told me to remind you of on this self care Saturday, as we prepare for this season of more cold and a lot of changes in the world around us. And I need to share these three things for you to keep in mind so that you will consistently continue to embrace the journey and the preparation right to really sink your teeth into the truth that the journey and the joy or one right the joy is in the journey is not simply about getting to the destination. So the first is priorities. And basically God wanted me to tell you to get your mind right. What that means is if you aren’t exceeding on the lowest level with basic basics of life, and the basic foundational pieces that God has given you dominion over, you certainly can’t expect him to trust you on a higher level or to shine his light from a greater platform, right? In this season of embracing preparations, your priorities have to be aligned with the divine. And so if you’re wondering what that looks like, then I am going to both challenge and encourage you to prioritize his presence, to prioritize his peace, and to prioritize the things and feeding the thoughts of who and what he has called and created you to be and to do, right, get your mind right, do not conform to the patterns of this world. And, you know, Romans 12 two tells us that very truth, and I’m going to read it to you verbatim, you can write it down and study in your time, but it says do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, then you will able you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is his good, pleasing and perfect will. And so when you prioritize getting your mind right when you prioritize, not being conformed, right, not being distracted, not trying to do the most, but doing what’s most important, prioritizing being in his presence, then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is. And so ultimately prepar your preparation is going to require you to prioritize his will and his way and the only way that you can do that is to put being in his word and in His presence first, right, embracing his peace, and feeding your mind, your body and your spirit according to His will and his plan for your life. Number two promises, take his word for it says right take him at his word. Listen, you cannot be out here in the streets letting somebody tell you what God has promised you. One of your priorities has to be knowing what he says he has for you. You got to know that you know that, you know, there are no shortcuts in this season. Get to the root of your truth. Know for yourself what he said and what he did not say for you. In order for you to do that. You have to get in his word for yourself. Yes, I share scriptures here. And I’m going to work at being more intentional and giving you the scripture from the word as opposed to the trip tifs truth aversion. But at the end of the day, whether it is coming from me, your grandma or your pastor, you have to get into the word for yourself. Like I said, there are no shortcuts. In this season. You have to get to the root of your truth. Know for yourself what he said and did not say for you. And then you can prioritize his promises. Yes. Listen, folk gossip about God. They will tell you that God said that he said, and God did not say, Don’t get caught up in the facade. Take his word for it. Get into your word. And second Corinthians one and 20 says this for all the promises of God in him are yes and Amen. unto the glory of God by us, right? So for you to know what promises are yes and amen for you. You have to get it from his mouth, meaning in His Word, right? Open up your Bible. And then the third thing that he told me to tell you was about your prayers. Now, I talked about in a in an earlier episode, which I will link in the show notes, which is actually one of our top three episodes of 2020 about why your prayers aren’t being answered. But I want to take this time to remind you to go to the throne. You don’t need a co signer when God is the headliner, prioritize his promises in your prayers. That means don’t just pray for what you want. Prioritize his promises, prioritize, praying for what he told you. He has for you when you are in his presence, prioritize praying for the promises that he has made to you and your work in His Word. There are some things your mom your husband and your boss cannot help you with or fix. Some of your knees are going to require you to hit your knees and this is not going to be a one time prayer. This is going to be a Consistent prayer or some consistent prayers, stop letting what you think you see going on with others challenge what you believe. You have to qualify what you see by what you believe you cannot qualify what you believe by what you see, you have no more time to pray prayers have ProQuest procrastination, you have no more time to pray habitual prayers simply because you’ve been praying them. And this season, there are some things you can’t handle on your own. Where God is taking you is going to require you to go to the throne on a consistent basis. And it’s going to require that you are prioritizing his presence and his promises, so that you are aware of how to pray with intention. And I want to read to you from Psalm five, three, and it says, In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice in the morning, I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly. And I want to be clear in stating that this does not mean you simply pray and don’t do anything. This means that you pray and you actively pursue him. In the Meanwhile right. And so that’s what God wanted me to share with you about embracing this journey of preparation, it’s going to require more of you, it’s going to require you to be much more intentional about your priority. Much more intentional about understanding and knowing for yourself his promises, and then being much more intentional, diligent and consistent with your prayers. Get your mind, right, take his word for it and go to the throne. Because you have to embrace this preparation. Listen, I know, this is not necessarily what you want to hear. Maybe you’ve rolled your eyes through the beginning moments of this podcast episode. And that’s fine, there are no judge, there’s no judgment. And that’s because I love you so much that I am going to give it to you another way, right. So I’m going to break it down. This is going to be more of the tips, truth version, let’s say pre or post Corona, of course, you’re planning a trip to Aruba, right? You’d be embracing the preparation, you’d be prioritizing your money, prioritizing your time so that you can get things done, and make sure you pack what you need, where you need it. So TSA won’t embarrass you in the security line.

TSA will help you get your mind right if you want to take that flight, right. Because if you don’t have it together, they will take your stuff and throw it away. You be at the resort, ensuring everything they promised you on the website or in the brochure was being delivered with stellar service, you would know before you even selected set resort what those promises were so you could make informed decisions about where you needed to go and what you needed to do the costs of vacations or have you ensure to get what is what is promised as yours, right? And then you’d be praying you prioritize properly, and you didn’t overlook or forego any of the promises you paid for. You’d be praying for Safe travels, and that the food and weather are good because getting on a plane to take you miles away, we’ll have you prioritizing your prayers before you even get there. And these same truths are necessary for where God is taking you. There are no shortcuts in this season to wherever God has for you to be or what he has for you to do. You have to embrace the preparation. So I want you to consider what have you been prioritizing that you know, you need to not have on your to do list but you need to move to your to don’t list. What have you been praying about? That you know is a prayer of procrastination, that you are not waiting on God that God is in fact waiting on you. And what promises has he told you are yes and Amen. What truths has he told you about yourself that you have allowed the naysayers and your circumstances and experiences to become lies and you have begun to live according to the lies instead of according to your truth. Listen, in this season, God needs you to stand up and step up into your position. And once you do, you will have the provision but you have to be willing to prioritize to know that you know that you know his promise. And to pray and move accordingly. And sometimes you need some support in doing that. And that is why I am called to be your guide. And I want you to really consider whether you have been trying to prioritize, trying to embrace his promises, trying to get your prayer life together for years and years and years. And you find that at the end of every year, you are setting these same goals and at the beginning of every year, you are setting the same goals and wondering why they are not getting accomplished. Sometimes one of your priorities is to get some help. Sometimes one of your priorities is to invest in yourself, invest in being God’s best, and I would love to help you do that. So again, the link is in the show notes. Let’s hop on a call and talk about how I might be able to support you and make this year the best year of preparation so that when God decides it is time for your elevation, you are ready because what I know for sure is a blessing received before you are prepared becomes a burden. And God is not the author of confusion. He is not out here trying to burden your blessings or make you a burden on the blessings of those He has called you to serve and transform. So let’s get together and get this thing done. Okay, as always, if you haven’t already, please take a moment or two and leave a review. When you do it creates an opportunity for other beginners just like you to find the show and get the support and guidance on this journey of preparation before elevation. You already know you can hit me in the DM on Facebook or Instagram and I’m also on clubhouse now at the Tiffany hub. I would love to hear from you. Don’t forget you can share a screenshot of this episode or send it in a link to a friend who might be blessed by it. I would love the support. And of course I will leave you with this truth. God is not going to play you but if you think he is going to place you in a season of elevation when you refuse to embrace or take responsibility in the season of preparation. I promise you are plugging yourself. Be blessed!

And then I wrote an award winning book all about it, and shout out to God. Ever since I was courageous enough to share my story. My life and the lives of women around the world have been forever changed. And as a member of the bounce back blueprint community, I’m called to teach you to do the same. So grab your journal, and let’s build this blueprint. Hey, begin before we start building the blueprint. This week, I wanted to let you know that this episode of the podcast is being brought to you by the comeback challenge. The comeback challenge is happening Tuesday, January 12, through Thursday, January 14, and it is three days to kicking your setbacks in the bud and bouncing back. Listen, this challenge is especially for you if this sounds familiar, you wake up in the morning and tell yourself again, today will be the day you begin to make changes. But you’re paralyzed by fear and you feel alone on the journey. Or you are frustrated with trying to figure everything out on your own. But you don’t trust anyone enough to share your struggles or seek support. Listen, you do not have to do this alone, we don’t grow alone, we don’t bounce back alone, we don’t get to where God would have us to be on our own. And this is an opportunity for you to thrive in a community of Covenant connections, you’re going to get some live coaching and some self paced training and activities. And this is going to kickstart your bounce back journey. So if you are ready to make your comeback in 2021, and you want to be a part of the comeback challenge, and you can sign up with the link in the show notes it is@bit.li slash comeback challenge. Now, let’s get into building the blueprint. And today I wanted to talk to you a little bit about my one word and one goal and why I switched to the power of one. And by that I mean the power of having one goal and one word to be my theme for the year. And to guide everything that I do. And I want to start off by sharing why it’s been several years since I set a new year’s resolution. And I remember facing the idea of ceasing to set resolutions with a very strong resistance. Like literally I was feeling a bit tense and uptight about not professing the challenges that I was going to conquer that year. And you know, the idea that I would never be professing those challenges at the start of a new year. And the truth is, as my life began to shift and take on more of a Spirit led vision center focus, my need to aim towards specific goals at the start of each year shifted as well. And then finally, they became completely unnecessary. And I’ve shared in previous episodes about how I was addicted to achievement, and I will be sure to link to one of those episodes in the show notes. But one of the main reasons why I stopped making resolutions is because resolutions were a reflection of my personal need for control. Yes, I am a recovering control freak. When I was setting resolutions, I will come up with my plan of execution and then pray for God to bless my plans. And while this appeared to work well for many years I was achieving things. It slowly became apparent that my plans and God plans are not properly aligned. Can you relate to that? You know, that whole process of getting to the top of the wrong ladder and feeling unaccomplished? Even though everyone around you is applauding. Meanwhile, God is saying, you are going to need to climb down and start at the bottom of the right ladder for you to get the fullness of my promises. So the more I grew both spiritually and personally, the better. I was able to understand how the shifts that were happening in my life, were for the best and that God was allowing me to take the lead as necessary, but it started with me being able to surrender in during times of reflection and prayer, I recognized while I had set well meaning resolutions, and I was working diligently to accomplish and achieve them, I was consistently missing my mark. And I learned that I had to be willing to go to God and constantly pray for guidance. I had to, like I said, surrender and allow my desires and plans to become his, I had to begin living a more Spirit led life. My process for selecting my annual theme is this exact opposite of the one I used to use to set and plan my strategies for achieving and setting new year’s resolutions. And I know now, I need to pray and meditate and listen for the voice of God to be led in the direction that he sees fit. And I also have to do intentional reflection, not only at certain times of the year, but consistently throughout the year, and be 100% honest with myself. And the same is true for you, especially if you are a person who has the need for control, and has a need to know the solution to a question or problem before you even attempt or take action, then I’m going to challenge you to if you haven’t already stopped making new year’s resolutions and embrace this process of allowing your truth, your self awareness and the presence of God to really lead you on this journey. The second reason why I stopped making resolutions is because for me resolutions were finite. More than once in the past, I have made the resolution to lose 50 pounds, and more than once I have in fact lost 50 pounds. Just to be clear, this resolution had to be made more than once because I gained the weight back. The issue with this resolution and resolutions of this type was there was no plan or indication for what I should or would do once the rep resolution was fulfilled. There was no continuum for maintaining the weight loss I had worked so hard to achieve throughout the year because I was so focused on the achievement itself. So for me, resolutions led me to chase a destination, as opposed to creating a lifestyle or a shift in my life that would be lasting. And what I now know is that with annual themes, I recognize there’s a natural flow. And because there is a natural and Spirit led and aligned flow, there is a continuum. The momentum of last year’s theme was built from the momentum of the theme of the year before that.

And I’ll get into that a little bit more when I share my word. And I recognize that my one goal and my one word themes are guiding principles for building my legacy, and are applicable in all areas of life as opposed to resolutions being limited to say, your physical health or getting promoted on your job or something like that. And then finally, for me, and maybe this is true for you too. resolutions lacked emotion. Since resolutions are so heavily focused on arriving or doing there’s often little consideration given to how you want to feel along the way or the emotions associated with the arrival at whatever that destination is deciding to spend the day after deciding to spend day after day moving closer and closer to a destination. While miserable or feeling negatively for the sake of achieving it became redundant and effective. And felt like a self imposed prison. We have an interview coming up on the podcast that is so great with Evelyn Vasya. And one of the things that she says is you cannot hate yourself then. And so you cannot hate yourself to a goal. And when I say yourself, I mean you cannot hate the process yourself is going through right it can be hard, it can be challenging, but if you hate it is it a journey that you even want to be a part of your life again, I’m not saying that you have to love everything that you grow through, but to hate it is very extreme. And so a clear sign that your theme or your one word and goal is right for you as being able to apply it to your life holistically. Regardless of what area of your life you are reflecting upon or examining or working to improve. Your theme should guide those activities. If you cannot align your one word and goal with your intention spiritually, mentally, emotionally, professionally, financially, socially, then you may want to spend a bit more time and money prayer and meditation and in reflection, and you really, really want to be patient with yourself through this process. So here are some steps you can take, if you’re not sure where God is leading you. Like I said, you can pray with only the expectation to hear from God, not necessarily your own intention, or your own resolution or your own plan, pray openly to hear from God to get clarity. You can also be intentional about spending quiet time alone with God and reflecting about lessons and blessings not only over the last year, but it can be over the last week over the last month, right? So setting aside the time to spend with God and yourself to really reflect on what is or isn’t working, and how that informs what needs to change, and then who you need to become in order for you to make those changes. And then of course, you can write through your thoughts and feelings, and responses to these answer prayers, what you hear from God, and what your self tells you in response to these questions. So that’s kind of why I now have the one I have one word and one goal for each year. And in fact, this year, I have one color that God has given me. So I will talk to you a little bit about my one. So I shared an episode in 2020. In fact, it was my birthday episode, an unshakable joy. I will link that in the show notes as well, that my work for 2020 was unshakable. And in fact, for me, oftentimes, my word for the calendar year to come, comes between my birthday, which is in June, and October. So God begins to prepare me for what is to come often, prior to I enter my own personal year end season, a reflection, if you will. And so in 2020, my word was unshakable. And the reason why God told me that that would be my word. And while I knew it will be something in that area because I was very distracted, I was looking around a lot, I knew that God was calling me to do the work I was doing. But I was looking around a lot at for the how I was looking around a lot for if I’m honest, the validation of me doing it right. And God was saying to me, you’re too distracted. You’re trying to do so many things at once that you’re not executing anything with excellence. And I need you to put your head down. And he brought me to the book of Nehemiah and I was studying it. And specifically, verse three, really resonated with me. And so it became my one scripture to go with my one word unshakable for 2020. And the Scripture, which I’m not giving you verbatim, basically, is Nehemiah saying to the people who were trying to interrupt him from building the wall at the time, that you know, I don’t have time to come down and deal with you. I’m not addressing that right now. I am doing a great work, I cannot come down, I am doing a great work. And so it was for me, also God affirming that he had to find great work to me. And he needed me to be focused more than ever on the fulfillment of my purpose and call because there were others blessings and breakthroughs assigned to my ability to be unshakable. Just like in the case of Nehemiah, and those who he was leading as he was building that wall. And so as the year progressed, and I continue to reflect, as I said, and I moved through the year, and I had a lot of milestones, it was a milestone year for me, I turned 40. So a lot of things were changing and relationships were changing. And then of course, we entered into a national pandemic. And so I had the foresight and was giving me the foresight that there were going to be some major distraction, there were going to be a lot of shifts and changes happening. But even still, he rewrote he wanted me to remain unshakable and focused on what he had me to do. And so as the year progressed, he spoke to me one day that I had everything that I have been praying for, and the reason it didn’t look or feel the way thought that it would or should, is because I wasn’t stewarding it well. And that was a huge gut punch. But when I sat back, and I reflected on that, I knew it was true. So much of what I have. And what I do is what I pray for, to be able to have the clarity and the courage and be committed to doing what God has told me to do. So if you don’t know, I will be celebrating four years of marriage in March of this year, I have two sons, I am a homeowner, I run a nonprofit that I started. And I have been able to build it from next to nothing to now getting a salary. And I also have this business and this podcast where I’m able to share and encourage and coach women just like you. So you know, I have great community and so many opportunities. I’ve written books, and I help other women write books. So a lot of what I’ve prayed for has come to pass. Right? That’s not to say that life is perfect. But what God made expressly clear to me was that if I was being a better steward, the picture would be much more perfectly imperfect for me the way that he intends. And so you know, in my prayer and my meditation and reflection time, we decided that my one word would be cultivate. And that is, because if I’m going to be a better steward, then I’m going to need to cultivate stronger relationships with what is most important. And so my one word for 2021, is cultivate. And my one goal is to cultivate stronger relationships. And to be clear, like I said, both this word and this goal, are able or are applicable, I should say to my entire life, right? So I need to cultivate a stronger relationship with God in my spiritual life, I need to cultivate a stronger relationship with myself. And that is, you know, with my health and taking better care of myself holistically, I need to cultivate a stronger relationship in my marriage with my husband, my children are on their way, very close to graduating high school, once a junior, well, one will be a senior in the fall one will be a junior in the fall. And so cultivating stronger relationships with them. I need to cultivate stronger relationships with donors and with corporations who support the nonprofit. And of course, I need to cultivate stronger relationships with you here on this podcast and with the women that I’m coaching and even with the women that I have the potential to impact whether they are working with me or not. And so I am really excited about this year, I’m really excited about what will happen, what will happen and what will be made manifest with me focusing. And here’s the other thing that I want to say about having a one word goal, or excuse me having one goal. And the one word focus is that it sets a standard for you that if What if you are approached with an opportunity, or someone invites you to something or to do something and it doesn’t align with that goal, or your work, then you know, you can say no with intention, and without malice and know that in doing so you are saying yes to being aligned with God and what he has called you to do. Now, I want to be sure that you understand that I am that I am clearly communicating that within that big goal, to cultivate stronger relationships. There are specific projects that I’m working on. And there are specific tasks that are going to be necessary to complete to bring that to fruition, right to measure my success, or lack thereof, or my progress at the end of the year. Right. And so I think it’s very important to recognize the difference between a goal and a project and then the tasks that it will take to complete each project so that you meet your goal and I can give you an example. So for me, cultivating a stronger relationship with my money, right with my finances is really important this year. And so one of my projects this quarter is to develop a realistic budget for my family right for we are going to work together to develop this budget. And so within that some of the tasks that are going to be completed some of the projects within that are this month. We are having a note spend a month right. So what that means is we are spending money specifically on necessities right specifically on the things that we will have to do every month, regardless of what month it is. And the reason why is because for us to really understand and get a good grasp on what our monthly expenses are, we need to see them without all of the extras that we add in. And so it’s been very challenging, especially with all of the sales, you know, that come at the top of the year and after Christmas and all of the opportunities. But I know that it is going to strengthen our family, and strengthening my relationship with my husband is strengthening the relationship that we have with food, right, because we’re not eating out, we’re not ordering out. So I’m being very intentional about preparing my husband’s lunch, which, you know, overflows into, like I said, cultivating that stronger relationship with him. So you can see how this one goal is having an impact holistically on not only my life, but the lives of the people in my family, and also those that I am called to serve. So I want to challenge you. First, I want to encourage you, because you know, it’s already January 6, when you’ll hear this episode, right? And the world will have you thinking that you have to have your plans for the year already figured out. And if you don’t, you’re behind and you should have done it in the last quarter. And you should already be hustling yourself to death. But I want to encourage you that you are right on time you are not behind. And I want to challenge you. To be honest with yourself, and ask yourself if you have already set goals or set resolutions, where are Spirit led? And where are they finite? Where did they lack emotion, were they focused on you having control. And then I want you to also challenge yourself to consider how your life would change if you gave yourself permission to set one goal. And if you challenge yourself to set a goal so powerful, that it will not only transform your life, but the lives of those around you and those that you are called to impact. And if you are up for the challenge, then I want to know what your one goal is, I want to hear from you about what your one goal is and what your word is. And if this episode has been helpful for you, of course, you know, you can jump in my DMS on Instagram or Facebook, I am at the Tiffany half, you can take a screenshot of this episode and share it out. If it Bless you, it will likely bless someone else. And of course, if you are looking to get the support and the clarity around your one, if you’re ready to become unshakable and remove the distractions and the clutter, and really cultivate the life that God has called you to, and you want to set a solid foundation for that by getting to your one goal in your one word, I would love to be your coach and guide through that process. And I am now enrolling new coaching clients. If you’re interested and want to have a chat about how we can work together, and how I can help you make 2021 one of your best years yet, then I encourage you to grab the link in my show notes and schedule a breakthrough session it is free of charge. And you can do that@bit.li slash your bounce back guide. But if you aren’t ready for that, then I implore you to join us for the comeback challenge. It will be just what you need to kickstart this reflection process, to kickstart your journey to build your confidence and clarity and to build some great relationships that you will have with women who are like minded to both encourage and challenge you through this year. So don’t be out in the streets saying you don’t have anyone to help you because I have given you two options to get the support you need. And it is available right now. I look forward to seeing you for the challenge. And I cannot wait to learn about your one goal and your one word. I pray that you are blessed by this episode. And of course I will leave you with this. God is not going to play you but if you’re out here in the streets, setting, unrealistic, Miss aligned goals and you’re not seeking Him about what he would have you do be and have a promise you are laying yourself be blessed.

Hey, begin. Hey, happy new year. I am so excited about this new year and what is to come, I am even more excited about what I am sharing with you today. And I am just really, really praying that the end of 2020 was a time of peace and prayer and reflection and recommitment for you and your loved ones. And before we start building the blueprint this week, I want to encourage you, I know that for some of you, when the clock struck 12 in the year change to 2021, it did not change the fact that you felt like 2010 2020 beat you down like you’ve never been beaten before. It didn’t change that for you. When you get up and look in the mirror, you don’t recognize the woman that you see, it doesn’t change the fact that you are still exhausted with the truth that you tried doing all of the things. And it felt like nothing worked, or nothing will work even in this new year. And if that is you, then I want to both challenge and encourage you to grab the link in the show notes and schedule a breakthrough session. Because I would love to be your coach this year, be your guide this year, and really work with you to be and do and have all that God has called you to through coaching. So grab the link in the show notes bit.li slash your bounce back guy. And let’s work together to ensure that 2021 is the year that you not only build but begin to implement your bounce back blueprint. Now today’s topic is sleep your way to the top. Yes, I said it, sleep your way to the top. One more game for those in the balcony, sleep your way to the top. And I know that if you listen to other podcasts, or if you’re on social media, all you’re seeing is stuff about the hustle and how you need to get up and go. And this new year, it’s time to do all of the things. But I just want to really impress upon you the importance of resting. Regardless of what goals you set, regardless of what you’re called to do. Regardless of what season of life you are in. There is nothing that you are going to be able to execute with excellence if you are not getting sufficient rest. And let me tell you how much of a challenge I know this to be for you. And for me, right? I committed at the start of 2020. I told my husband, I am going to take the full final week of 2020 off. And he was like, okay, and I was like No, I’m really going to do this. So I told myself that from December 24th. Christmas Eve through the end of the year, I was not going to do work. Now. I did know that there were a few things that were pre scheduled that there wasn’t really anything I was going to be able to do about them. But for the most part, I was taking this time to rest to rejuvenate to spend some time with family. And when I say I was resting, I was not only not doing work, I was not doing house work. I was not. I was in a 100% chill mode. However, it took some time right because Christmas Eve is Christmas. I was still kind of working, you know baking cookies and cooking. And not that that’s work but I was doing I was there was a lot of doing right I went to sleep pretty much exhausted on Christmas Eve I went to sleep pretty much exhausted on Christmas. But I did start to rest the day after Christmas. And then when Monday came I went into full rest mode.

Talking about I was in the bed all day, I have therapy on Monday afternoons, I took my therapy session from the bed. And my therapist really was proud of me because she knows how challenging it is. And there will there were several times over the course of the last week where I had to really work at resting, I had to really work at not picking up my laptop, I had to work at not trying to schedule things or reaching out to someone so or constantly checking my emails, all of that I had to really work at resting. And I think that it was not even I think it was a telltale sign for me that I’m not being as intentional as I need to be with rest. And I know that I am not alone with this. And so I am sharing this as the first episode of 2020. Because it needs to be a priority. And it’s not something that needs to be seasonal, right? It’s not something that happens only at the end of the year, or only on Saturdays, this is something prioritizing rest. And sleeping your way to the top is something that needs to become the rule and not the exception. And so I want to share three tips that you can use for, you know, creating the atmosphere or setting the tone for you to be able to sleep your way to the top. And I’m going to start out by sharing three scriptures that I think are just really aligned with our need to rest more. And that is not something that is just coming out of the sky. It is something that is written in the word that God is, you know, as I say, challenging and encouraging us to do. And so the first scripture is Psalm three, five, and it says, I lay down and slept, I awoke for the Lord sustains me. And the reason why I wanted to share this scripture is because I know that we feel like if we are sleeping, if we are resting, there are so much that’s not getting done. And perhaps if we aren’t working, then we aren’t making the money. And then we are in this mindset of lack, right? But the Word says that because we lay down and sleep, we awake, you know, we can get that rest because God is going to sustain us. The second scripture is Exodus 3314. And it says, and he said, My presence shall go with you. And I will give you rest. That means there’s nowhere that we are going that God is not there, right? He goes before us, in fact, and so we are allowed to rest, knowing that he has everything under control, and we are covered by him. And then the third scripture I will share is song for an eight it says in peace, I will both lie down and sleep for you alone, oh

Lord, make me to dwell in safety. And peace says I want you to write that down. And peace asleep my way to the top and peace. I will lie down and sleep that means not just lay down and scroll on your phone, not just stay in the bed and be watching Instagram Live No. in peace, I will lie down and sleep. For you alone. Oh Lord, make me to dwell in safety. That’s good. Psalm four and eight. All right. So here are my three tips for sleeping your way to the top in 2021 and beyond. The first is to prioritize. So we know that when we are prioritizing something or someone in our lives, it requires us to set boundaries, right. And so I want you to consider the boundaries you are going to need to set in order for you to make sleeping your way to the top and or resting priority in this season. Right? Some of those boundaries might be having a time when you shut down, right. So a time when you stop taking calls a time when you stop responding to text messages a time when you stop scrolling. Right? And you begin to decompress. Right? Maybe that is when you start your prayer. You might do some meditating, maybe some journaling at night. But you are in your space, right you are prepared for rest. And for some of us, for some of us, that is going to be a new habit that we’re setting right so perhaps, you know you need to go to bed earlier, but you don’t just fall asleep. Well that might Look like like that Scripture says, lying down, and then going to sleep. So maybe you need to set a boundary that you will be in bed by 10. Even if that means you aren’t sleep until 11, you are resting and preparing for that. Another boundary that you might need to set is to move where you are charging your cell phone, right. I always tell people not to charge your cell phone next to your bed, I have a powder room in my bedroom. So I can plug my cell phone up in the bathroom, still in my bedroom, but far enough away that I have to get up and go into the bathroom if my alarm is going off, because a lot of people use the excuse that their cell phone is their alarm clock. The good news is they are still making alarm clocks in 2021. So if you are in need of one, then invest in an alarm clock or move your cell phone, and it’s charging station from your bedside table or your nightstand and put it somewhere that’s going to require you to get up out of the bed in the morning. And am. In addition to that, shut off your notifications, put your cell phone on Do Not Disturb or put it on silent so that even if it is in a different area of the room, you aren’t constantly hearing the buzzing and the alerts and the notifications, right. Another boundary might be that you need to start waking up earlier right? Perhaps you feel like you can’t go to bed earlier, you can’t sleep longer because you have so much to do. Well what if you decided to start commanding your morning, getting up earlier so that you have some time to do what’s necessary. before everyone else in your house awakes before it’s time to get out of the door or on the laptop for work, you can prioritize what’s most important. And then not only are you getting more done earlier in the day, but you’re waking up earlier, which is making it more likely that you will be able to get the sufficient rest you need at the end of the night because you’re tired. The second tip is to prepare for sleeping your way to the top. Yes, I said preparing for sleep. Because let’s be honest, we haven’t necessarily created the optimal environment for us to get sufficient rest, right, you may have a TV in your room, you may need new pillows on your bed, maybe you need a new bed. And I can tell you that the Sunday after Christmas, we got our new bed delivered. And I know that contributed significantly to the amount of rest and sleep that I got not only Monday, but during the entire course of this past week. And us getting a new bed was way overdue. And that is because I was not necessarily prioritizing my rest.

So maybe you need to prepare the environment in which you are sleeping, perhaps you need to freshen it up, you need to fill up your pillows get on a consistent schedule with washing your bedding. And I know these probably sound like very simplistic things. But when we don’t prioritize them, these are some of the things that are the lowest on our list. And because of that we find ourselves waiting until we are completely exhausted to rest and sleep. So I want to really challenge you to consider whether or not where you are resting is prepared for you to get sufficient rest. It could be that your window coverings are not keeping out the light that you need them to keep out. Right. There are a lot of things in the atmosphere that contribute to how well we do or do not sleep. is the temperature right in your bedroom? Do you maybe need a candle or a diffuser or something of that nature. And also, even in preparation for setting the atmosphere in your room? I think it’s also important that you think about what you’re doing just before bed. And I know I already talked about boundaries, but what is it that you’re doing just before bed that is affecting your ability to get that rest you’re affecting your ability to you know, really feel well as you are preparing to end your day. Right? So what is or isn’t in your sleeping space, your bedroom, your living quarters, that needs to be there or that needs to be removed. And then finally, you’ve got to persist. You can’t try this one or two nights and then give up. Right you are going to be building a new habit. And for some of us sleep and rest are not the easiest things and that’s why the boundaries and the preparation are so important. But even more so you have to persist, right? Maybe it’s going to take A few weeks or even a month, a few months for you to get to the point where you feel like you are recognizing the difference in your sleep and how you are waking up. But don’t give up sleeping your way to the top in 2021 is going to be transformational. I promise you this past week has just been amazing for me. And I’m so grateful that God impressed it upon me to give myself the permission to prioritize, prepare and persist, even when I struggled with it on certain days or at certain times because of how important it is. And so I’m just praying that in this season, you are recognizing how

God has created you to be and to do and to have so much more than you could ever even wrap your mind around. But it’s going to require more of you. And for you to be able to pour Of course, you have to fill your cup and you cannot do it without sufficient rest, and sleep. And so I want you to this self care of yourself on Saturday morning. And whenever you are listening to this, I really want you to look at your planner, I want you to look at your calendar. And I want you to make sure that you’re scheduling, the time that is necessary for you to rest. And for you to sleep. This is about prioritizing. And this is about the preparation. And it’s how you persist, right. So if you have things that are scheduled up until midnight, some of those things are going to need to go other places because you are now prioritizing your rest earlier in the evenings. Right? If you have things that are scheduled from the time that you wake up, then some of those things are going to be rescheduled because you need to have some space and therefore rest and for sleep. And so I want you to go and get your planner after you listen to this episode. I want you to look at what schedule in your Google Calendar and what you have committed to already and do some reflecting and some recommitment to yourself and to God to execute with excellence this year. And to do so by prioritizing, preparing and persisting to sleep your way to the top. I would love Love, love to hear your feedback on this episode.
