38 | Still Struggling with Writer’s Block? Here’s How to Overcome It

I’ve said it before and I will say it again: Writer’s Block is a MYTH.

Your mindset has a lot to do with why you think or feel you have writer’s block – and on this episode we are doing some “cleaning” to get rid of the stinking thinking.

Sister, do you actually believe you are called to be an author?

Have you been settling for less than the life God has called you to because you don’t believe your testimony is powerful enough to impact others?

Are you still walking around looking like a victim of what you have grown through when you are created to be a victor?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, this episode is for you.  We’re going to look at how your mindset, unbelief, and choosing to settle with mediocrity often manifests as writer’s block.

35 | Candance Greene: Aggressively Seeking Peace

Have you ever felt like peace is not something you have access to? Have you been feeling overwhelmed and consumed with the challenges of everyday life?

Then this is the episode for you.

It can be challenging to accept that rest and peace do not equate to laziness.  We have to learn that we can’t operate out of exhaustion.  God would not have us to do that.

Sometimes it takes time for us to find internal peace.  According to this week’s guest, Candance Greene seeking peace is not a passive action.

Candance L. Greene is a published writer, podcaster, and the founder of Cherishedflight, a ministry dedicated to helping women realign with the peace of God. She has produced over 100 episodes of Cherishedflight the Podcast where she shares biblical steps women can take to implement the peace of God in their lives on a daily basis.

Through Cherishedflight.com, Candance shares a series of blogs on topics ranging from abiding with God, to forgiveness. She’s also conducted sets of blog series on the Fruit of the SpiritPraying the Names of God and Abide In Me, which centers on Christ’s message to His disciples in John 15:1-11.

Candance is known for introducing the concept of #PeaceBreaks for women who are overwhelmed by the demands of marriage, motherhood, and maintaining their careers. With the #PeaceBreak, Candance encourages women to step away from what they are doing to carve out moments in their day to pray and breathe to decrease stress and reconnect with the presence of God. She has conducted live #PeaceBreak sessions with multiple aduiences, as well as on weekly episodes of Cherishedflight the Podcast.

In 2018, Candance released her book Inhale Peace: A 31-Day Journey to Realign with the Peace of GodThe devotional was created to be a daily guide for people to connect with the peace of God every day of the month. She also launched Inhale Peace: Journey Through the Devotional, a video series that walks her #PeaceCollective through each day of the devotional.

Candance is a graduate of Paine College where she earned a BA in English, and Goucher College, where she earned an MFA in Creative Nonfiction Writing. She has been published in a variety of anthologies, scholarly books and journals including: Bittersweet: An Anthology of Contemporary Black Women’s PoetryBrevity: A Journal of Concise Literary NonfictionFearless Confessions: A Writer’s Guide to Memoir; and the Huffington Post. Key Takeaways

  • Seeking and maintaining peace is an act of aggression
  • You have to train your mind thoughts an how you speak in order to maintain your peace
  • When you are who you are – you have to be who you are
  • You will get to the point where its too much of a battle to not be who you are
  • You can be in the middle of a storm, pit or valley and God still uses you to encourage someone else
  • You need to speak your truth to have peace
  • Sometimes your body will force a sabbath rest if you’re not willing to be still
  • Sometimes a setback is a repositioning of how you think
  • If you don’t take sabbath – your sabbath becomes an illness
  • Opportunities often come dressed as obstacles
  • You need to be famous at home first: in your relationship with God, in your body and at home with your family
  • Sometimes it takes a setback for us to focus on the fame that is most important
  • Choosing to let go and surrender can be one of the most difficult things to do
  • You have to go to your GPS when you’re being redirected.  GPS: God’s Plan in Scripture
  • If you’re overwhelmed – you have to STOP and put something down
  • The initial encounter of seeking Gods peace might be an act of aggression because of what He will require you to do
  • We have to come clean and accept we are harboring unforgiveness for God
  • People have faith until they have to have faith – you can’t go to people when you need to go to God
  • There are some places we don’t want to go – but those are the places where what need is
  • A Peace Break is taking time to reconnect with the peace of God
  • There is nothing wrong with being proud of what you accomplish

34 | (REWIND) Do NOT Despise Small Beginnings

I know I am not alone in having had this type of experience.  You know, when God gives you a divine download, or an idea, a vision to execute, but in the execution things don’t go exactly as planned.  You get it done, but question whether it was good enough, or if you should attempt a do-over.

Have you been there?

In this weeks episode, I am sharing about an experience I had with an event, and what I learned about how two of the words I had been using to “quantify” my work was belittling it, and in many cases causing me to despise the work i was doing.

This episode of the podcast is being brought to you by Coffee + Clarity: Purpose Over Pandemics.

Coffee + Clarity mini-retreats are transformational experiences to equp, challenge and encourage as you rebuild your life with God first.  In this sacred space you will grow your faith, friendships + fellowship with divine connection, deep conversation and intentional intimacy

You can RSVP for the next experience here.

Key Takeaways:

  • Just because things don’t look or feel the way you expected them to doesn’t mean you are out of alignment with your divine assignment.
  • Only and just are two words reminiscent of a lack mindset and the lack mindset has to GO.
  • If there is one person who shows up or you are called to serve, recognize this is THE ONE.

33 | How to Create Powerful Affirmations

Have you ever felt like affirmations don’t “work” for you?

If you said yes, it’s all good! You are NOT alone.  I too used to fell that way.  That is, until I recognized that I was using affirmations to affirm other’s validations.  I was creating affirmations to speak to the projections and expectations others had of me – not what God said about me and who He created me to be.

In this week’s episode, I’m sharing my process for creating powerful affirmations: spoiler alert – they’re powerful because they’re rooted in God’s word!

Key Takeaways:

  • When your affirmations are rooted in the truth of God’s word, you have no need for the validations of others
  • You have to confront the lies if you expect to be able to conquer them
  • For every lie the enemy or anybody else has told you about yourself – there are hundreds and thousands of truths in Gods word to negate them.
